Where have you left your heart?

Everyone has that a place that you can escape to in your dreams. You imagine you are at the special place and a feeling of nostalgia comes over you. The place brings you simple pleasure. My place is Costa Rica. I've been to a handful of countries in my lifetime but there is something about Costa Rica that just makes my heart melt. Maybe it’s because I’ve spent months on end in this country. Maybe it’s because I am so comfortable there. I’ve left little pieces of my heart up and down the Pacific Coast and the Caribbean side. My memories of Costa Rica are so dear to me, that I would never want to lose them. From simple cups of coffee to riding in the back of cattle trucks, it’s the friends that I have met; to the waves that I have rode. The Ticos are the friendliest people that I have ever met. They welcome you to their country as if it is your new home. It has been my home.

I'm dreaming of my place this morning as I work and get ready for the biggest event of Molly B's so far. I hope you can dream of your place as well.

Bikini Week in San Diego

Molly B's is going to be at the Bikini Week Pre-Party tonight downtown at the Andaz! It's going to be a show you don't want to miss.

Polaroids

Okay, so I have a slight obsession with Polaroids and wanting to be alive in the 1970s. My bikinis are inspired from this era. This era of simplicity and family life. The era of a nostalgic beach lifestyle where technology didn't haunt each and everyone of us...every minute of the day. Don't get me wrong, I love the computer and the fact that I can get instant pictures of my niece and nephew on my cell phone. But I am know for never answering my phone. I tend to forget it all around the house.

I had a photo shoot awhile back and the photographer took a handful of Polaroids and I have yet to see them. I wake up every morning wondering if today will be the day that these amazing photos arrive in the mail. Nothing so far.

I am planning another photo shoot in the 70s style right now with an awesome photographer. So I am trying to find some inspirations on the internet and I stumbled across the most amazing story.

Jamie Livingston. He took a Polaroid everyday for 18 years. It's an amazing way to document a life. Just looking at his photos, without a single word, you step into his life. You can see his happiness and joy and his painful last year.

So I looked up the day I was born. August 13, 1980. And below is the picture.

I can spend hours looking at this website. I looked at the picture from my 16th birthday. I looked at the pictures from days when people I loved left my life.

Take some time and check out Jamie and his story.

Chris Higgins wrote an amazing blog about Jamie. His writing was an inspiration. I am so ready to get my camera ready to take a photo a day.

Behind the Scenes

Have you ever wondered what a photo shoot looks like behind the scenes? Prior to starting my bikini company I had no idea, nor how much effort they take. Just like any business, it's important to align yourself with the right people. There is a lot at stake for everyone involved. The models depend on the photos for their portfolio, same for the photographer, and the designer gets pictures to use for marketing/advertising. Even a small shoot takes a lot of coordination and commitment! I've posted a couple pictures from last weekends shoot in La Jolla. I worked with a few of the most professional people I know, and because of that the shoot was a big success. Check out some of San Diego's finest below:

Welcome Back Spring

Don't get me wrong I love Winter, snow and hot chocolate. But FINALLY, it's over! I'm a beach girl at heart, and get so excited once the days get longer, the water starts to warm up, and bikinis and BBQ's are the daily norm.
Every Spring I look for things to do outside. The weather in San Diego is very mild, and the summer tourists haven't arrived yet. I've pasted a couple links of fun spring activities I enjoy.
